Qatar is the fastest-growing city in the Middle East and is placing orders with the global market to build a future energy city. In 2018, Jiangsu Volt Lighting Group was successfully shortlisted and signed an agreement with the Qatari government to produce 320 sets of 5G integrated smart street lights for the first phase of the World Cup main venue project. After four years of research and development, Volt Lighting has successfully designed a smart lamp post that integrates display system, sensing system, acquisition system, and optoelectronic system. In addition, the lamp post is also designed with an IoT system to meet the personalized needs of customers.
Liu Jie, the general manager of Jiangsu Voltaic Lighting Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the current status of each street lamp can be seen on the mobile app, and the street lamp can be turned on and off, and the brightness can be adjusted on the mobile phone. If the street lamp malfunctions, it can be directly checked and located on the mobile phone. There is also a city logo specially customized by the company for Qatar on the street lights, as well as a display screen that can display national cultural output and promotional slogans in real time.
Street lights have a “smart brain”, thanks to the technological accumulation of the Gaoyou street light industry over the years. Each smart street light embodies more than 20 independent intellectual property patents of the enterprise. At present, Gaoyou has more than 1000 lighting companies, making it the largest production base for street lighting in China and the largest distribution center for outdoor lighting construction in the country. The streetlight industry in Gaoyou is accelerating from basic lighting to smart lighting, and the industry chain will become longer and wider, with increasingly widespread market applications.
Liu Jie told reporters that in the construction of smart cities, smart street lights are a very important smart template carrier. For example, the current 5G smart street lights are constantly optimizing and upgrading their products, gradually breaking through their own technological bottlenecks. This will also become an important component of the Internet of Things. At the same time, Volt Lighting also hopes to apply its experience in smart lighting and smart cities not only domestically, but also abroad, and share it with foreign friends.
